Dr. Lauren Aklinski, a 2004 graduate of Western States Chiropractic College, has been practicing at the Center for Chiropractic since 2006. She is also an alumnus of Indiana University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She is currently pursuing an advanced degree in Human Nutrition.
While her initial interest was in attending medical school, she instead decided to pursue a career in chiropractic after discovering it as a natural alternative for treating numerous conditions. She is passionate about promoting the body's ability to heal itself, and believes that health and wellness can be achieved through diet, exercise and lifestyle modification. She also acknowledges that some conditions ultimately require the use of drugs and/or surgery, but that these less conservative options should be used as a last resort.
Dr. Aklinski's approach is holistic, recognizing that mental, emotional and physical well being all contribute to total health. She views chiropractic care as both a "jump start" towards wellness and an important part of maintaining wellness. Her goal is to treat her patients conservatively and to teach them how to be active participants in their own health, so that they do not become dependent on her treatment. Whether she is treating a chronic problem or a new injury, she will develop an appropriate treatment plan to see patients through their recovery.
