Dr. Amelia Schildmeyer delivers holistic health care and chiropractic in Portland with special emphasis on functional nutrition, functional rehabilitation, and lifestyle optimization. She believes many chronic conditions can be resolved by addressing underlying dysfunction. She offers holistic treatments for type II diabetes, high cholesterol, GI complaints, and a variety of auto-immune disorders as well as musculoskeletal complaints.
Dr. Schildmeyer believes that education is the first step to better health; she offers in-depth information and alternative care options for many conditions. She focuses on coordinating care and communicating with other medical providers to facilitate the best care for her patients. If she is not familiar with a specific condition she researches in depth to create the best possible treatment options.
Dr. Schildmeyer is well versed in the application of Graston technique, myofascial release, muscle energy technique, nutraceuticals, lifestyle modifications, and offers a variety of modalities to control pain and speed healing. She values her patient’s health goals and personalizes care for the individual with a confident and caring bedside manner.

Dr. Amelia Schildmeyer was born in Santa Clara California and grew up in Salt Lake City Utah. She moved to Portland Oregon in 1993 and pursued an education in the field of fine arts through PCC and PSU. She decided to start a career in the restaurant field to support her young daughter as she was a single mother. Her career as a lead bartender and restaurant manager lasted 17 years. After her successful career in this field, she decided to pursue her dreams and entered the doctor of chiropractic program at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Schildmeyer graduated cum laude in 2016.
Dr. Schildmeyer completed her preceptorship and continued as an associate with Dr. Marian Fish, a highly accomplished doctor with 40 years of experience in the field of chiropractic. Dr. Marian Fish retired at the end of 2016. Dr. Fish passed as much knowledge as possible to Dr. Schildmeyer during the 6 months they worked together. They share similar views on the functional application of alternative medicine and chiropractic care. Dr. Schildmeyer is pursuing further accreditation in the field of functional medicine and functional neurology to compliment her doctorate in chiropractic.
When Dr. Schildmeyer is not caring for patients, she is active in outdoor sports and family functions. She loves to hike, fish, cycle, kayak, and spends a lot of time enjoying the great outdoors in the Pacific Northwest. She loves art and often engages in a variety of artistic ventures from painting to pottery. Dr. Schildmeyer is very fluent in home remodeling and landscaping and loves to garden and cook. She spends a fair amount of free time researching the latest current evidence in health care.
