Dr. Peter Macris has had a great interest in medicine ever since childhood. He is happy to now be in a profession where he can make a positive difference in the lives of the patients he serves. Dr. Macris is a graduate of Portland State University and the University of Western States (UWS). At UWS he studied neuromusculoskeletal conditions and took a special interest in the holistic aspect of chiropractic care. In treating the human body as a whole, he follows the philosophy that all of the body’s systems are inter-related, and should be addressed as such. To complement this, he is very much a believer in an allied healthcare approach to medicine, and welcomes the opportunity to work with other healthcare practitioners in order to best serve the needs of his patients. While at UWS, Dr. Macris also completed additional training in sports medicine. Some of the conditions that Dr. Macris frequently treats include: headaches, neck and low back pain, disc herniations and derangements, sciatica, TMJD (jaw dysfunction), otitis media, postural fatigue syndrome, shoulder impingement/dysfunction, tennis/golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, hip pain/dysfunction, plantar fascitis and other muscle/fascial disorders, arthritis, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, inflammatory diseases and conditions, work and sports related injuries, automobile injuries, whiplash, on the job injuries, hypertension, sinusitis, and many others. APPROACH: In a typical visit to Dr. Macris, you can expect him to take a thorough and comprehensive history. As a Portland chiropractor, he will order any necessary tests and will perform other procedures and tests that are aimed at determining the cause or possible underlying conditions predisposing a patient to disease, dysfunction or injury. In looking out for the wellness of his patients, Dr. Macris places a considerable emphasis on diet, nutrition and exercise as integral components of his natural treatment plans. He is convinced that treating dysfunction before it becomes disease is the key to improving and maintaining optimal health, and will customize each patient’s treatment plans to fit their needs and goals.
